Products Made in Germany have developed into a real bestseller. This also applies to the children’s equipment industry, as some manufacturers reveal exclusively to the Luna Journal.

Products Made in Germany enjoy an excellent reputation. This is confirmed by a recent analysis by the international Data and Analytics Group YouGov and the British Cambridge University. The experts asked consumers from 23 countries how they perceive products made in a particular country. In total, the image of twelve producing countries was surveyed. The result was clear: in the overall comparison, products from Germany ranked first among consumers worldwide. Products from Italy followed in second place, followed by Great Britain, France and Japan. China is at the bottom of the league. “Our study shows that in the perception of products their origin continues to play an important role,” says Philipp Schneider, Head of Marketing at YouGov Germany. “In this respect, the label ‘Made in Germany’ still has a high international relevance. The Luna Journal asked companies in the industry how relevant the factor ‘Made in Germany’ is for them.

Made in Germany is an additional product advantage for hessnatur

Many customers are particularly sensitive when it comes to children’s clothing. hessnatur consciously relies on Made in Germany. Managing Director Sybille Ebinger: “hessnatur was founded in 1976 in the middle of Germany and to this day the promotion of regional textile production is very important to us. Because we are always enthusiastic about the competence of our long-standing German partners and pay attention to short transport routes. These are just two of the many reasons why Germany is the main production country for many textiles”. Ebinger reports that Germany as a production location is often also a purchasing argument: “It is very important for our customers to find out where the products come from. For many, the origin “Made in Germany” is an additional product advantage. In order to be credible, it goes without saying that we show for each article where it is produced. In addition, our digital world map allows customers to see with just a few clicks where we get our natural fibres from and in which countries they are processed.”

Safety and security are especially important in the case of wooden toys

High-quality wooden toys are important for many parents of babies and toddlers. Selecta markets itself in this segment of premium quality. Germany as a production location is also a convincing argument for the company internationally. Axel Kaldenhoven, Managing Director of Schmidt Spiele GmbH: “Made in Germany” is an important topic for Selecta - the high-quality wooden toys are almost exclusively manufactured in the company’s own factory in Bavaria. The traditional company, which has belonged to Schmidt Spiele GmbH since 2017, uses wood from certified forestry, mostly from Germany, for this purpose. In addition to the topics of safety, quality and harmlessness to health that characterise the entire Selecta thinking and manufacturing process, “Made in Germany” also plays an important role as a seal of quality for Selecta and for consumers at home and abroad. Selecta can be found with ASS Altenburger; Bullyland, Puky and numerous other toy manufacturers on the portal madeingermany.online. This corporate network offers interested parties from all over the world an overview of German products in various categories.

Bobby-Car is classic Made in Germany

A well-known classic mMde in Germany is the Bobby-Car. “The BIG Bobby Car, like all other products from the BIG toy factory, is produced in our factory in Burghaslach, Franconia,” reveals Uwe Weiler, Chief Operating Officer of the Simba Dickie Group. The sliding car has been manufactured since 1972. Weiler continues: “The 320,000 square metre site, located directly on the A3 between Würzburg and Nuremberg, is home to one of the most modern toy factories in Europe. By the way, the famous red car is an invention from Franconia. Internationally, the Bobby Car stands for indestructible and robust quality from Germany, for which our trademark - the buffalo - also stands. In the meantime, we have produced more than 20 million pieces, making children and parents many times happier.”

Germany as a production location also speaks for sustainability

“Quality Made in Germany”: This is how the satchel manufacturer McNeill advertises prominently on its homepage. According to the company, the company is the only school bag manufacturer to manufacture its products in Germany. Managing Director Claudia Krause: “We deliberately produce in Germany and not in the Far East. This is a unique selling point and McNeill is different. In recent years, interest in school satchels made in Germany has also been growing. Seen in this light, the purchase of a McNeill school bag is also a very important contribution to sustainability. We do not transport school satchels, which have a large volume to be moved, several thousand kilometres across the oceans of this world by heavy oil operated ships. The unnecessary consumption of natural resources, but also CO2 emissions, are thus avoided. According to a calculation by Carbon Connect AG, this is approx. 35% less CO2 emissions. We also sustainably secure jobs in Germany as a business location”.
